A Brighter Christmas for Local Kids
Shop with a Cop is one of the most fulfilling projects that Walla Walla Area Crime Watch hosts and our law enforcement community organizes each year.
There really is a Santa Claus, and he lives in the hearts and souls of our community! Each year just before Christmas, law enforcement officers from multiple agencies pair up with local children from families in need to shop together and fulfill holiday wish lists.
This heartwarming event also brings together officers’ spouses, who join forces to shop for custom “needs boxes” for each family. Packed with essentials like diapers, pull-ups, wipes, cleaning supplies, coats, pajamas, and specific food gift cards, these boxes are tailored to each family’s unique situation.
Because the number of children served depends entirely on community donations, our extended law enforcement family works hard to maximize every dollar. Police department staff and volunteers come together to wrap the presents, while Crime Watch volunteers host the Santa area.
They ensure every child goes home with a special surprise gift from Santa, presented alongside the officer they shopped with. Crime Watch also provides a hot cocoa and coffee bar, giving officers and their little shoppers a cozy space to celebrate and bond after their shopping adventure.
